EXTERNAL OPERATIONS

External nasal operations include, but are not necessarily limited to, correction of external deformity.

DISCHARGE

Usually one day after surgery.

PACKING & PLASTER

Packing is usually removed prior to leaving the hospital. Internal nasal splinting is left in for five to seven (5-7) days. Plaster usually removed seven to ten (7-10) days. If plaster dislodges before please phone rooms for an appointment.

SWELLING

Following surgery facial swelling and bruising usually occurs and last up to ten (10) days. Frequent ice packs over the eye region will be applied post operatively.

NASAL FUNCTION

The external nose may remain tender to pressure for many weeks and long lasting bumps on palpation of the nose are normal.

STITCHES

All sutures dissolve spontaneously unless advised otherwise.

FOLLOW UP

You will receive a follow up appointment is usually arranged with your treating ENT Surgeon at one to two (1- 2) weeks.
